Ways to Join Our Church Joining by Transfer from Another United Methodist Church You may transfer your membership from another United Methodist Church today. The church staff will handle all the details of your transfer.
Joining by Vow from Another Denomination Since you have been baptized into the Christian faith in other denomination, it is not necessary for you to be re-baptized. We accept your baptism and celebrate with you that part of your spiritual journey. We also are happy to receive you into the fellowship of First United Methodist Church today. You will be asked this question: “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it with your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?” The church staff will handle the details of notifying your former church or your transfer.
Profession of Faith For a young person or an adult, who has been baptized but never officially joined a church, you may join today by professing your faith. When you join you will be asked “Do you affirm your faith in Christ? Do you promise to serve Him as your Lord in union with the church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, all nations and all races? Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it with your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?
Baptism and Profession of Faith A person begins the Christian life through baptism, which is the symbol of God’s grace through Jesus Christ. If you were not baptized as a child, and would like to be baptized, you may want to visit with the pastor. Or, you may choose to be baptized today. For a young person or an adult, this also is an opportunity to profess one’s faith. Note the questions in the paragraph above that you will be asked.
